The Top 10 Instagram Accounts For Industrial Decor Addicts

see how the pros make the ugly, the beautiful
Exposed brick, raw materials like concrete or weather wood and distressed leather – sound like your kinda thing? Then you’re an industrial interior lover – and so are we. So we’ve searched Instagram for you to find the coolest, best industrial decor to get you inspired for your own home. Industrial homeware can be great for those who are working on a budget because it’s all about working with the raw foundations of your home and turning something typically unsightly (e.g. pipes) into a beautiful feature. SO, see how the pros have done it…

Feminine Industrial Vibes by jemmiju
If you haven’t come across Gemma’s Instagram yet, it’s a must see if you want some inspiration on how to make industrial decor work in  as a homely setting. Gemma’s uses raw exposed brick combined with colourful, feminine and cosy features that come together perfectly.

Beautiful distressed homeware by hoggbarnantqiues

We love the unique items that Shannon Cox displays on her Instagram accounts – the way she forms succulent displays with planters that are worn, or tarnished and turns them into something beautiful and elegant is a skill! We dare you to not get sucked into a black holes rolling through her beautiful account – enjoy!

Bare industrial bedroom by Hoppshouse

Who said bare was bad? There’s something quite serene about this empty space. Traditional industrial design was based on functionality, and this room is authentic to that. After all it has all you need: a bed comfortable bed, light and small storage (out of view). Top marks from us! Oh, and we can’t forget to mention that the light is from BHS!

Matt black & glass galore by sosijoma

Again with the open storage! One rule of industrial interiors is to not cover things up. Embracing frames, wheels and handles steers you away from the twee home look and towards a utilitarian vibe. But it doesn’t have to look down trodden – this black cabinet with glass remains sleek, shiny and sophisticated. Instead of hiding away possessions, pile them on top of furniture in artisan boxes like Sonia has.

Industrial kitchen in the home of Hornsby_Style

The industrial theme of this kitchen may be established by the exposed brick, but what really builds it up is the collection of furniture and accessories. There’s metal galore – as you can see in the pendant lights, wall light, wire chairs, plug socket and metal pot knife holder. The open storage shelves on the left complete the industrial look.

Twinning mustard chairs in judiths_place

If you haven’t yet discovered Judith’s Instagram account then do! Her home is full of one-off pieces. We also like Judith’s photos because her house actually looks lived in. She’s not bothered about leaving a slipper in the background of a post! Judith shows us that industrial design can be colourful too, take the matching utilitarian mustard chairs for example. The busyness of the room – in particular the shelves –  create a messy teacher’s office look, but the playful monkey and personal accessories keep it endearing. Note the black, industrial, sack-style plant pot on the right too.

Drinks trolley perfection by design_soda_ruthie

Get some wheels in the room and you’ve already hoisted yourself onto the industrial spectrum, right? We love the brass frame against the dark wall and floor, once again showing just how sophisticated industrial interiors can be. Wheels on a mini bar are also extremely practical for wheeling your gin and tonic to wherever you decide to drink it! If you want to see more of Ruth’s home, head over to our recent Style Files feature on her.

Amazing unconventional tap seen on taller_a_designstudio

You can’t get more industrial than a tap that is literally an exposed pipe! Everything in this design comes together really nicely to form a unique and stylish bathroom. We’ve just discovered Taller A but are already getting tips from their structural furniture and dark colours. Check them out!

Stunning pendants by tomdixonstudio

Tom Dixon is one of the most famous light designers but also a staple of industrial design. If your room is lacking spectacular lights then have a scroll through their Instagram and you’ll get heaps on inspiration. Low hanging, metallic pendants and spikey floor and desk lamps can add instant industrial charm to any space. We’re aware that Tom Dixon may be out of your budget – check out B&Q, BHS and Debenhams. They have some amazing replicas, yes really!

Industrial locker cupboards by brynxz

Love love love the use of creepy / dirty / rusting lockers as cupboards in this dining room. Pieces like this are often lurking at boot sales or markets – the key is to find something that is rough around the edges. A stain or chip adds character. Note also the oversized vase, which looks unconventional inside rather than outisde. Dutch homeware brand Brynxz Collection sells loads of cool pottery – take a look and get inspired!
