So, if you’re planning on having a summer BBQ or a dinner party, why not show off your hosting skills and wow your guests with some summer table decor that’ll blow them away. Sorry I can’t teach you how to turn a napkin into an origami rose, but I can show you how I create a really simple, pretty table with no mess & no fuss.  RE-CREATE MY SUMMER TABLE DECOR:

Step 1: Layering.

Create height and interest by layering your crockery. You want the placemat to be the biggest item on the table with everything placed on it getting smaller. The higher the item, the smaller it should be. I decided to position my napkins on top of the plate & bowl because it’s a bright colour which pops against the neutral plate and bowl. Be creative – try pink, blue, green, whatever. You can even add a little flower on top of the napkin if you want to really impress your guests.

Napkins, Placemats, Salad Bowl & Salad Tongs  – all by Also Home

I stumbled across Also Home recently and instantly fell in love with everything they do. Definitely one of my new favourite brands I keep recommending to clients. If you’re into rustic, industrial, earthy, scandi, boho-y things, they’re definitely worth checking out. Out of the items I chose, I think the linen napkins are my favourite. Adding the bright yellow instantly jazzes up the table and makes the table shout ‘it’s Summer!’ in one easy step.

Step 2: Colourpops.

For any summer table decor adding some colour is imperative. I like the idea of pinks, greens & yellows, as to me they are fun and energetic, but feel free to do what you wish. For a hassle free easy way of adding colour, use your serving bowls are your colour pops. Because you can scatter these across the table, this means colour is positioned all the way along the table catching the eye in different places making it appear colourful and summery.

Step 3: Tablecloths.

For any one wanting to create summer table decor with ease, adding a table cloth is a great way to drastically change the vibe of your dining area. I’m a huge fan of the H&M home range as their linen table clothes are super cheap and really good quality – I have three currently! Plus they come in a pretty solid range of colours and patterns – on my lust list currently is this blush one – see here. If you are going for bold crocked, perhaps keep the tablecloth muted. Or alternatively, if you’re an IKEA plain white kinda plate gal, like me, go can go bolder on the tablecloth – #yolo
