Where do you find your inspiration?

The inspiration behind my home is a bit of a vintage mash up. The drama of Victoriana, the glamorous 1920s and the coolness of the 60s and 70s all mixed together.

What was the design process of your home?

I started to transform the downstairs a couple of years ago when my kids were old enough to stop drawing on walls. There wasn’t really a planned design process, it kind of just evolved. I bought a gorgeous blue silk lampshade in an antiques shop in Dartmouth about 12 years ago and I think the room just happened around the lampshade.  It was previously all white and I wanted some drama in the space so I started off painting the wall behind the sofa dark and it just grew from there. I was hooked.

What’s your best advice for creating a home like yours?

My advice to someone wanting to create a home like mine is, to go vintage hunting. Anywhere, it doesn’t need to be expensive. Flea markets, fairs, boot sales, eBay, charity shops. There are so many fab things out there. Get yourself a few key pieces of furniture and let the room grow around them. Don’t buy flat pack! Also don’t forget things can be painted if they don’t look that nice or are a bit tatty.

How would you define your style?

I love darky moody interiors, offset against soft pinks, greens, and blues. My style is strong but feminine. I like my home to feel comfortable, inviting and glamorous but also a bit rough round the edges.

Money no object, where would you dream home be?

If money were no object, I would have a few homes. A home somewhere hot by the sea, (I grew up in Australia and I miss the heat). I’d also love a huge city pad that I would totally style up. Lastly a calm and tranquil place in rural Cornwall.

If you could only own one homeware item, what would it be and why?

If I could only own one homeware item it would probably be my antique French dining table. It adds strength and character to any room. It’s over 250 years old and I’ve had it nearly 20 years and its seen a lot. The kids do their art on it, spill paint, glitter etc and I just give it quick oil and it looks amazing again.

How would you define your style?

Fun, eclectic and a little Scandi . I used to drool over the monochrome Scandinavian interiors on Pinterest and then when it actually came to decorating my home I just couldn’t see myself living somewhere like that. Having colour in every room makes the house feel fun & bright and I like to see our home as an extension of our personalities! I really enjoy finding new ways to cram in some colour and pattern to make a happy space for ourselves and daughter Lola.
