The Style Files No. 5

her surname is Silk - could she get anymore lust worthy?

We’re back with another Style Files this week and oh yes, it’s a good one. As you should know by now, we interview people with homes to lust over and this week we spoke to interiors blogger Olivia Silk of Lust Living….

… To introduce you to Olivia, she started her blogging journey shortly after buying her current house three years ago. She had a passion for creating liveable spaces centred around minimal design. After renovating, she thought she’d share with us her experience and thank god she did, because her style is definitely great to take inspiration from if you want to create an understated-chic look.

The Style Files: Bringing you boundary pushing interior design to swoon over.

What was the design process behind your home?

  1. At first it was very much do what I can with what I’ve been (kindly) handed down from my parents, I began painting all my pine furniture white to give it a new lease of life. Designing your home I think is something that you never really finish, I’m constantly coming up with new ideas (usually before I’ve finished the last project), slowly I think you pull your own individual style together and for me personally I found a huge amount of inspiration through Instagram and Pinterest.

What is the inspiration behind your home?

The inspiration is definitely drawn from Scandinavian interiors but lately I am becoming more and more inspired by Australian interior design and architecture, plus some of my favourite brands are over there.

  1. What would be your advice to someone who wants to create  a home like yours?

Stick to neutrals, a lot of white helps make the home a lot brighter and then add in splashes of greys, blush, mint – I love pastels.

How would you define your style?
Scandinavian, minimalistic and a dash of hygge

How would you define your style?

A mix of Scandinavian, minimalistic and a dash of hygge – it’s got a very cosy feel at the moment as I’ve got a lot of warm textures dotted about, like sheepksin.

If you could own only one home ware item what would it be?

My bed – it’s my favourite place to be.

Money no object, where would your dream home be?

Right now, Australia, just because their architecture is so much more my style – it just wouldn’t look right in the UK. Sob.
